This quartet celebrates its 25th year of existence this year in 2025 and we look back on 11 studio albums and a good dose of touring. The band is led by Nils Wogram and features my fellow kiwi Matt Penman on bass and my good old friend from Cologne, Jochen Rückert on drums.

We continue to tour once or twice a year and make a point of taking a good few cases of natural wine with us on the road, Matt being the band’s official sommelier.

This is a trio led by bassist and composer Sebastian Gramms and featuring Austrian pianist Philip Zoubek. Both of these men are strong composers but it is in the main pieces and fragments form the bass player that we play. Our three albums so far are each quite unique and each time we play there is always something new that comes out.

This group is hard to define as they really push the definition of “opera” by taking it out onto the streets and public spaces and opening up the field with improvisation. Based in Berlin and directed by Sven Holm, we have put on shows all over Europe and South America featuring a host of composers. The crew consists of musicians, actors, dancers, performers, and it by far one of my favourite groups to play in. Totally off the scale in terms of genre and classification.
